While I interned at WPMT Fox 43 News Studio, I learned what it takes to produce the nightly news. I worked closely with reporters as I shadowed them out to the field to conduct interviews, gather information, film footage, for a segment that will be aired that night.

While working inside the studio I assisted the photographer by helping edit the footage filmed that day. The nights that I worked in the studio I used two news computer programs: IPUMP (used to gather breaking news across the world), and ENPS (used by the anchors to see speak).

Below are two stories that were read on the nightly air by the news anchors.

Newsflash

On November 27, 2007 we launched the first annual Last Call event in memory of my sister Victoria L. Hickman. As you may be aware we lost Vicki to a night of college binge drinking due to some uneducated and irresponsible choices by all those that participated that fateful evening.

Through the Last Call efforts we hope to raise awareness about the risks of college binge drinking as well as promote education relating to alcohol poisoning, its effects and its signs.
